SCHOOL SAFETY FOR STUDENTS RIDING THE BUS

Riding a school bus safely is serious business and requires cooperation and help from everyone. Here are some helpful items for students and parents that ensure safety:

  1. CAUTION: Check drawstrings on clothing. Anything over 3" long can be dangerous while entering or exiting a bus as it can become snagged on handrails. All Carrollton buses have corrected handrails.

  2. Teach your children to stay 10 steps away from the bus pick-up point.

  3. ALL STUDENTS must watch for the bus driver’s hand signal. If your child must cross the road to get on the bus, help remind him/her to cross at least 10 steps in front of the bus.

  4. Warn your child NOT to pick up anything he/she may drop near the bus. Have your child tell the bus driver and he/she can help.

  5. Don’t let your child play pushing or running games at the bus stop.

  6. Child will go to designated place of safety as determined by the bus driver.

  7. Children are not permitted to go to the mailbox after departing from the school bus.

  8. If running late, NEVER allow your child to walk or run alongside the bus in order to board.
